Title devised by cataloger
Oliver Johnson writes William Lloyd Garrison to underscore the importance of, when drafting the resolutions for the Annual Meeting, the need to "speak the right word in the right way". Johnson cautions against the "peculiarities" of Parker Pillsbury, and begs Garrison to take charge of the composition of the resolutions so as to prevent Pillsbury from botching the affair. Johnson urges Garrison to include the "needed criticism" of the government in his resolutions. Upon closing, Johnson inquires if it is perhaps not preferrable, considering the "solemn crisis" in which the American Anti-Slavery Society finds itself, that they forego resolutions at the meeting in favor of an address
